 The most important achievements

  1.  Creating of the school of applications of the boundary element method in sensitivity analysis and optimization. Published papers on this subject were one of the first in the world. Lectures on „Sensitivity analysis, optimization and inverse problems” presented in the framework of CISM Advanced School on Boundary Element Advances in Solid Mechanics, Udine 2001. Guest Editor of special issue of Engineering Analysis with Boundary Elements (Vol. 19, No.2, 1997), Elsevier, devoted to sensitivity analysis and optimization.

  2. Original concepts of stochastic and fuzzy boundary element methods in analysis of systems with uncertain parameters. Author many papers and chapters. Guest co-editor of Engineering Analysis with Boundary Elements (Vol.19, No.3, 1997), Elsevier, devoted to stochastic problems.

  3. Elaboration of methodology and computer implementation in multi-scale modelling of materials. Managing of scientific consortium, consisting of a few Polish universities in research grant on Multi-scale modelling of materials: methodology and computer implementation. Member of Interdisciplinary Centre for Materials Modelling.

  4. Managing of research group dealing with developments of computational mechanics. Author the first Polish monograph devoted to the boundary element method: The Boundary Element Method in Mechanics, WNT, Warsaw 1995, editor the book: „Advanced Mathematical and Computational Mechanics Aspects of the Boundary Element Method”, Kluwer 2001, and co-author of three books on computational mechanics: Computer Method sin Solid Mechanics, PWN, Warsaw 1995, Handbook of Computational Solid Mechanics, Springer 1998, Boundary Element Advances in Solid Mechanics, Springer 2003.
  5. Application of computational intelligent systems based evolutionary algorithms, artificial immune systems, artificial neural networks and fuzzy systems in optimization and identification problems.
