In this laboratory the measurements of emission and ambient air concentration of high risk air pollutants are carried out. Those substances include: benzene and derivatives of benzene, phenols, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) isolated from gaseous phase or extracted from dust. The analyses of the substances mentioned above are performed by gas chromatography CGC-FID systems.
In the GC we have a Hewlett-Packard Gas Chromatograph (model 5890) with Flame Ionization Detector (FID) and Perkin Elmer Clarus 500 Gas Chromatograph with Flame Ionization Detector (FID) and Thermal Conductivity Detector (TCD), autosampler, programmable pneumatic control (programmed flow and pressure). Measurements are conducted in the system split/splitless and on-column capillary injector. The laboratory is equipped with Thermal Desorber, which allows to insert desorbed pollutants on chromatography column from solid sorbents.
